This Des Moines home on Tonawanda Drive received a full kitchen and bathroom remodel to give the space a more modern, eclectic aesthetic with a hint of traditional details.
On the main floor, we took down the wall between the dining room and kitchen to open up the space and allow for an easier flow between the two areas. We brought in new Yorktown cabinetry in the color Celeste, and extended it across the back and side wall to allow for more storage space. We took the white subway tile backsplash up the entire wall to draw your eye upwards.
American Walnut Butcher Block countertops contrasted nicely with the large Cambria quartz island. We painted the cabinets under the island a dark blue and added blue knobs to the stove to add a pop of color. New appliances (including a wine fridge!), light fixtures and wood accents tied it all together.
In the powder bathroom off the kitchen, we made a few changes that packed a punch including fresh paint, swapping the toilet and sink for better spacing, changing the door swing, and a new vanity, mirror and lights.
Upstairs, we overhauled the primary bathroom without changing the square footage. We rearranged the layout to make room for a large claw foot tub and shower. We replaced the flooring with a blue patterned tile and gave the wall behind the vanity and shower an upgrade with white tile laid in a basket weave style. A coat of paint, new countertops, a modern vanity and bathroom accessories finished off the look.
