Whole Home Remodeling
A mid-century dream, this 1958 home in the South of Grand neighborhood of Des Moines got a full transformation.
The exterior of the house was modernized by raising and extending the roof, creating a monoslope roof. Cedar was used on the soffit, providing a natural contrast to the new black paint. In the rear of the home, the upper deck was given a new horizontal, cost-effective railing and a new patio was built below.
Walls were removed in the entryway and near the stairwell to provide an open living space. A wall near the kitchen was also removed to open the room further.
The kitchen was entirely reconfigured to allow for more efficient use of the space. With an oak veneer finish and slab fronts, the Euro-style cabinets add the perfect mid-mod touch. New appliances and fixtures were added to upgrade the space, including a sleek Blanco faucet and convenient air switch garbage disposal.
The bathrooms throughout the home were all upgraded. The primary suite was completely redesigned, moving a door to make the space more private. The bathroom in the front of the home was redesigned and given a custom TV stand for the cabinetry. A new half-bath was created from the old wet bar area of the kitchen, and the downstairs bathroom got a larger shower and taller ceilings.
